Victoria Film Festival

ConVerge 2016

Where do you like to watch?

City Hall Clock Tower?
During spin the bottle?
In the doghouse?

The VFF has created an afternoon of play to demonstrate the explosion of change in what, where and how we’re watching.  We solicited a young jury to sift through hundreds of short films submitted by youth ages 9 – 24. The result is 50 of the best short films in the most unconventional spaces we can find. We’re taking you out of a darkened cinema and turning you on your head for the social experience and experiment of your year.

Experience ALL of  ConVerge: 50 films, 30 pop-up cinemas, 1 afternoon with two times (11 AM and 2 PM) for the ticketed event in incredible unique venues around downtown Victoria… and don’t miss the afterparty following the 2 PM tour!

Purchase your ticket today — you’ll exchange it for a wristband at the Bay Centre or the Victoria Public Market at the start of your “tour” on February 13, as those are your launching pads to access and experience all our crazy, crazy films and venues.

Buy ConVerge: 11 AM start: $20  Buy ConVerge: 2 PM + afterparty! : $30

    Starting Point
Go to our Box Office(s) 30 minutes before your time slot to turn in your ticket for a wristband and a map to the venues. The wristband will identify you as a ConVerge patron, giving you access to all the venues.

Capacity at the venues varies from 1 to 20 – if a venue is full, there’s another one around the corner! Remember to keep a sharp eye out because we’ve also got some surprises along the streets as you go between venues. You may even need to be kidnapped to see a film!

    Box Office 1
Bay Centre, Bottom floor VFF storefront
    (near Douglas St. escalators)
    **Cash only.

    Box Office 2
Victoria Public Market @ The Hudson
    **Cash only.

    The After Party
Yep, for those who purchase tickets to the 2:00pm time slot, we’ve got a little thing called a “party” going on after ConVerge is over.

Meet up with other ConVergers at Box Office 1 in the Bay Centre at 5:00pm to enjoy a complimentary beverage and appetizers to build your strength up after all your wanderings.

  • Free ConVerge Street Party: February 12

Get a little taste of Converge at a free street party on Friday, February 12th, or immerse yourself fully with the ticketed film event on Saturday, February 13th.

    Friday • Feb 12 • 4:30 – 7pm

We’re shutting down Broad St. between Yates and View and pulling out the stops for your TGIF party time. You’ll be chanting from the street as we offer a taste of our playful-est ConVerge ever. Featuring films on the big screen, visual artists, fun time with the new Virtual Reality technology, and live music by Bučan Bučan. And, of course, the spunky and crazy ways we like to show you films by today’s youth.

    On the outdoor screen:
    Faunethic by Véronique Girard, Montreal
Alternate World by Dylan Derek, US
