The Victoria Film Festival has announced the line-up for their fourth annual FEAST: Food & Film festival, running over two weekends in June. With events taking place on June 17, 18, 24 and 25, FEAST will host two scrumptious weekends.
Kicking it off on Friday, June 17th at the Vic Theatre is Sour Grapes a documentary analyzing the biggest vintage wine scandal known in modern times. Pairing local de Vine wine with top Canadian cheeses, this film shines a new light on the ‘wine and cheese pairing’. Prior to the screening, Andrew Moyer from Ottavio Italian Bakery & Delicatessen will discuss the cheese, alongside Lori Palmiere from Dairy Farmers of Canada.
On Saturday, June 18th, The Missing Ingredient will screen at the Vic Theatre. Pairing this documentary about New York dining institutions with a selection of meatballs from various Victoria restaurants, and sampling spirits from de Vine spirits, the event is anything but your typical New York Italian.
For the second weekend of FEAST, the events are moving off-site. Friday, June 24th The Empire of Scents will be screened at the new Victoria Distillers location in Sidney, on the waterfront. Learn about the power of scent while sipping a Victoria Distillers cocktail and sampling a selection of bites from Toque Catering.
Wrapping up FEAST, the final screening will be Quentin Tarantino’s 1994 classic Pulp Fiction screening in the Phillips Backyard on Saturday, June 25th. Coast Lunchbox will be selling ‘Royales with Cheese’ and Jackson Ice cream will be making milkshakes available for purchase. Tickets include a Phillips beer and a hypodermic shooter. Oak Bay bikes will have an on-site bike valet and attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.
Ticket prices vary $20-$29. All events are 19 and older. Full details are available at feastfoodfilm.ca. FEAST: Food & Film is an annual food-focused Festival that the Victoria Film Festival has every year to highlight films that highlight the food and drink industry in its vast capacity.
