The New Opportunities of 360 Cinema

Monday, Feb 6 | 7pm

As virtual reality (VR) technology becomes more prevalent it paves way for new immersive experiences, ranging from amateur social media to awe-inspiring cinematic wonder. Join us for a discussion on the opportunities offered by this medium and how it differs from the world of traditional cinema. We’ll discuss 360 degree video capture strategies, new devices and technologies, the challenge of editing spherical video, working with audio, and the relationship to 3D games and virtual environments.
But most importantly, we’ll address the questions about what new types of experiences are possible. What is special about 360-degree video? How does it impact the feeling, presence and empathy in an experience? How can it take us to new places we wouldn’t normally be able to access? Like a stranger’s living room, breathtaking destinations around the world and even underwater.
