Sugarcane – Free Screening! All Ages!

The Vic Theatre is proud to bring Sugarcane back for one night only to recognize the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.  Admission will be free.

An investigation into a residential school sparks a reckoning on the nearby Sugarcane Reserve, near Williams Lake, BC.

For documentarian Julian Brave Noisecat, the investigation is highly personal, with his own father among those who were born at the St. Joseph’s Mission Residential School. As he and fellow documentarian Emily Kassie dig into the history and secrets of the past, they uncover trauma and abuse… but also, a chance for healing.

Sugarcane took home the Directing Award for US Documentary at the Sundance Film Festival, and we are proud to present its B.C. premiere.
