It was so much fun last year that we are going again - an Opening Gala film and a selection of dinners at great Victoria restaurants. At the theatre you’ll start with a complimentary cocktail from the award-winning Spinnakers! Then we turned to our favourite restaurants who will be hosting 3-course dinners for 10 with wine from Church and State. There will be a few tickets available for the movie and dinner but only a very few as the filmmakers and guests will be filling the tables with excellent repartee. So, get your game face on, it might be an unforgettable ride.

He has written or directed over thirty films, including four collaborations with Martin Scorsese. The first, Taxi Driver, won the Palme D’Or at Cannes Film Festival. In 1978, he directed his first film, Blue Collar. Schrader’s catalog of film includes American Gigolo, Cat People, Mishima and Affliction. We are once again hosting an art exhibition in The Atrium during the Film Festival. This year our theme is Bringing Film to Life. The Exhibition reflects the current work of emerging artists with a distinctive and perhaps even peculiar sense of the world. In essence, 10 artists agreed to create three-dimensional works no smaller than 2’ X 2’. Key materials used had to include a film poster and film strips. To select the artists, we collaborated with Haus of Owl (HOO), a co-working club for creators. Haus of Owl exists to support the creative spirit, hunger, and process of artists in the world of
music, film, fashion, photography and dance.
You know how you have an opinion about every movie you see? This is an opportunity to mellow out with a cocktail and some nosh and then speak your mind. You know you wanna! Catch The Golden Years and then enjoy an opportunity for discussion with Festival Screener Tony Ruffolo at The Mint. This is a social event for those who would like to take a deeper dive into the film they just saw and share their thoughts. There will be complimentary drinks and light food to heighten the experience.
Stay in your pajamas for a fun time at The Vic. There is cereal for the kids and coffee for the adults. Or is it the other way around?
Poupelle of Chimney Town: Based on the popular children’s book by Akihiro Nishino. Yusuke Hirota’s debut Poupelle of Chimney Town is the story of young Lubicchi and a man made of garbage, Poupelle. Living among the thick smoke from the chimneys of his isolated town, Lubicchi yearns to see the “stars” – to know the truth – his father always told him about. Spectacularly beautiful, Poupelle of Chimney Town is filled with inspiring performances, splendid music and sound effects. Produced at Tokyo’s famed STUDIO4ºC, this astonishing film will bring tears, laughter, and joy.
