This May, our Retromania series takes a haunting dive into the ethereal and the troubled with "Girls Aren't Alright," a double feature exploring the darker side of suburban youth. The descent begins on May 3rd at 7:30 pm with David Lynch’s surreal masterpiece, Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me, capturing the neon-soaked nightmares and final days of Laura Palmer. The journey into teenage angst continues on May 17th at 7:30 pm with Sofia Coppola’s directorial debut, The Virgin Suicides, wrapping the tragic isolation of the Lisbon sisters in a hazy, dreamlike 1970s aesthetic. Join us at The Vic Theatre for these two cult classics that prove growing up is rarely as picture-perfect as it seems.
Prepare your vocal cords and leave your "shushing" at the door because Sing-Along At The Vic Theatre is officially turning the cinema into your personal concert hall. We’re kicking things off on Saturday, June 6, with the legendary Funny Girl, where you can channel your inner Barbra and prove that no one is going to rain on your parade, followed by a glitter-drenched blast-off on Saturday, August 8, with Rocketman for all the Elton John fans ready to rock their sequins and platform boots. With lyrics projected right on the screen, themed cocktails flowing, and costumes highly encouraged, it’s the only place in Victoria where singing off-key isn’t just tolerated—it’s celebrated!
This June, Retromania: Down Bad takes over The Vic Theatre with two films exploring the chaotic intensity of being hopelessly in love. Catch Baz Luhrmann’s neon-drenched Romeo + Juliet (1996) on Sunday, June 14, followed by the surreal, eccentric yearning of Paul Thomas Anderson’s Punch-Drunk Love on Sunday, June 28. Join us at 7:30 PM to experience these stylized masterpieces of cinematic obsession on the big screen.
There are many good reasons to have a VFF Membership… but the main one is that you have to. Consumer Protection BC requires you to be a member of the Society showing unrated films – kind of like acknowledging that you want to see our movies, don’t you? Always check the program as not all VFF films are unrated.
Just so you know, you have to be 19 years of age to attend most of the screenings at The Vic Theatre because there will be dragons (okay, really, just local beer and wine). Always check the program as some All Ages shows are also screened.
The Vic Theatre is available for rent for your special event. Perfect for independent screenings, fundraisers, celebrations, presentations and more. We have 213 comfortable theatre seats raked—so every seat has a great sightline—with a 24-foot wide screen, new laser digital projection system, and booming 7.1 Dolby stereo sound.
