A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET

It’s the 1984 classic American Horror movie that met with rave critical reviews. Teenager Nancy Thompson and her friends are tormented by violent nightmares brought on by a dude named Freddy Kreuger.

By now, we all know Freddy. His stylish red/black striped sweater and fedora combo are frightening enough but throw in Mr. Kreuger’s affinity to pull off the homicidal ghost thing, and you got some really scary stuff.

Nightmare is the struggle to define the distinction between dreams and reality, but that can be about everyday life, really.

Whatever you do, don’t fall asleep.

Horror

Multi-award winner Aftersun is an unforgettably spellbinding  film by first time UK director Charlotte Wells. Following a father and daughter as they head off on a Turkish vacation this evocative film is a vibrant slice of life. Easily one of the best films of the year

All Quiet on the Western FrontThe initial euphoria of war quickly turns into fear and desperation for a young German soldier and his comrades on the Western Front of World War I. The film is based on the world-renowned bestseller of the same name by Erich Maria Remarque. The book, nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize in 1931, was banned and burned in Nazi Germany because it was seen as representing German soldiers as disillusioned.Drama / Action / WarEdward Berger / 2022 / 2hs 27 minsOriginal Language German – English subsStarringDaniel Brühl / Albrecht Schuch / Sebastian Hülk

Amsterdam

Set in 1933, three friends, Burt (Christian Bale), Harold (John David Washington) and Valerie (Margot Robbie), are framed for a murder in Amsterdam.

The murder accusations reach the highest levels of a conspiracy involving US President Roosevelt and an attempt to overthrow that government.

Get your popcorn beforehand, because the intricacies of the plot are equal to the number of big-name cameos and you don’t want to miss a minute.
