Pete Ohs’ Erupcja is a breezy, colorful film about coincidences, whether it is a chance encounter or a volcano that erupts every time Bethany (Charli xcx) sets foot in Poland. While vacationing in Warsaw with her boyfriend Rob (Will Madden), who has put together a romantic itinerary as part of his plan to propose, a volcano erupts. Bethany takes this as a sign that something in her life needs to implode, so she breaks away and reunites with her old friend Nel (Lena Góra), who runs a local flower shop. The two women share some potentially explosive chemistry, mirroring the volcanic tension brewing beneath the surface.

Erupcja has an ethereal, whimsical energy that echoes the characters’ spontaneity, as the screenplay was a joint collaboration between the director and the film’s stars.
